A.J. Martelli

My name is A.J. Martelli. I am the biggest Yankee fan you could ever meet and the nicest guy you could ever meet. I'm the type of guy you just want to hug every time you see me. :)

I studied journalism at Mercy College in New York and I was the sports editor of the Impact, Mercy's student newspaper, for two years. I was given two Quill Awards by Mercy's media studies dept. for sports reporting, and the Impact won two NY Press Association awards for outstanding journalism while I was sports editor.

My sports insight has been featured on ESPN and the YES Network mutiple times. I have to cite Buster Olney as my inspiration - and he has seen and liked some of my work, which is pretty cool.

Right now I am working as a sports reporter for a hyperlocal newsweekly in New York, covering high school sports. I am hoping to work my way up and cover the Yankees some day.

I started Yankee Yapping in July of 2009 and it has taken on a life of its own. You can follow YY on Facebook and please leave feedback. I love hearing thoughts on my work and hopefully it's all positive!
